“I’m running.”–Forrest Gump

I saw this on a friend’s site and had to share.  Love it!

Snow 101We finally got snow and so today we took the babies out for their first romp through it.  There were mixed emotions on the stuff.  Miriam, supposedly like me as a baby, did not care for it.  Fortunately, she warmed up to it but still became annoyed anytime she sank in too deep.  Elizabeth took to it quickly and didn’t seem to even mind the water dripping on her head from some snow melting off of the BBQ.  We had to move her away from the drip, she was that oblivious.  “What a beautiful day mommy, don’t you think so too?”Let’s see if I can get around this snow without touching it.“What is this?  Move it please, it’s freaking me out.”  Grape vines in the winter.  I should have cut them back but some things like pruning fruit trees and bushes, and composting, are somewhat intimidating to me still.

Banana Nut Bread–My favorite.

I got this recipe from a room mate a long time ago who got it from her mom who got it from someone else.  So, let’s just say it’s a hand-me-down recipe well worth holding onto.Banana Nut Bread3-4 ripe bananas½ c. butter 1 c. sugar2 eggs4 T. sour cream2 c. flour¼ t. salt1 t. baking soda½ c. walnutsCream butter and sugar; add chunks of bananas, eggs and sour cream.  Mix well in blender.  Sift flour, salt and soda. Add, stir and bake at 325 F. for 1 hour and 15 minutes in large bread pan. Yields 1 large loaf.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and the next year

The Christmas Robot A gift from Aunt Dani and Uncle Michael.  Very cool! Happy New Year!!! Reed and Douglas managed to stay up with us till midnight in order to share in some Welches Red Grape Sparkling Cider.  Quite tasty in my adorable glasses I got for Christmas from aunt Jodi. I for one was ready to go to bed at 10pm but was encouraged by Reed to stay up till the ball dropped.  I’m old.

A decade, a whole decade!

I think it’s time for another cake decorating class.I now have a pair of 10 year olds.  The big 10!  We had a small party with 3 of their friends and of course our own clan.  There was pizza, ice cream, cake, and a salad.  The salad was to help the rest of the stuff digest later on, or for the parents not to feel too guilty about the night of bad cholesterol and tooth decay. Can you sense the excitement for the #1 Birthday gift this year?  I wouldn’t be surprised if I (or most likely Chris) go down to wake them up in the morning and they are sleeping in their helmets.Argh!!!!!That’s Elizabeth back there saying, “Argh!!!!!”Why is it such a challenge for boys to behave in pictures? They loved all of their gifts.  They both got some new dress pants, a tie, remote control helicopters, and Nerf guns.  Reed got an NFL book and a cook book for kids and Douglas got the game Apples to Apples.  They of course got a few more books from us.  I always think a book is a good gift, I just hope they th…
