Patience is a Virtue

I finally managed to get my wedding ring off today, just before I lost complete circulation in that significant finger.  A good preemptive strike if you know that mother-nature intends to see you in a sausage-esque state for at least another week.  I only wonder how long it will be before I’ll be able to get it back on.  The permanent 1/16th of an inch indentation on that finger will leave few wondering how lucky I was to have managed to get it off without calling in the “jaws of life” tools.

imageTomorrow is my last doctor visit before the big day next Thursday.  I’m blessed at this moment, and up to the big day, to have my youngest sister Dani in town for a visit offering a spare, and very helpful, hand in this uncomfortable state I now find myself.

I think I finally figured out who coined that phrase, “patience is a virtue.”  That brave statement most definitely came from Adam, as it had to be what the first husband on earth said to the first wife on earth, a very pregnant Eve.  Adam, after receiving his/and the first slap in the face on earth, quickly kept quiet, boiled more water, and stood by as Eve continued waiting and laboring for her first born.

Patience is the virtue that I’m still trying to grasp, but I think I’m getting better at it.  It seems that many others are learning its virtues as they wait with me for these babies to come.  Every time I see someone from church at the grocery store they’re amazed I haven’t popped yet.  I get concerned calls almost daily from people who are “just wondering if…” and for each call, I am quite grateful and feel so loved.  Thank you all for your concern and generosity during this twin pregnancy.

Challenge:

So, I thought for fun and to increase our lack of patience, it would be fun to have a contest to see who can guess the birth-weight of these two babies.  The winner will get a gift card for the total weight of these babies combined, translated into a dollar amount for Cafe Rio or somewhere else if you don’t have one near you.  In the comment section, or via email, tell me how much you think each baby will weigh.  Hint:  Baby A is weighing at 2 days older than Baby B and they both seem to be thriving.  For a little extra help, I’ll let you know that my first set of twins were born at 36 weeks one weighing 5lb. 13 oz. and the other 6 lb.4 oz..  My singlet child weighed 9lb.6 oz. at 40 weeks and 1 day.

Baby A: ____________

Baby B: ____________

Total: _____________

If you can guess their lengths too, we’ll add an extra $5.00 for desert!  Good luck to us all!

I'm certainly at a disadvantage, since I'm not around to see how you look. Because I'm sure I would be able to tell how big they were by looking at your belly - kidding! =)

Here's my guess.
Baby A: 6 lbs. 10 oz.
Baby B: 6 lbs.

Glad to hear you are hanging in there still!

Hurray for Thursday if it hasn't happened yet! Can't wait to see pics of these little dolls! Sorry I haven't been on the ball about making hair accessories. I've been gathering the stuff to make them, but you may not be up to it anymore -at least for a while. I'll send you some instead, or we can get together in a few months when you've got to get out or pull all your hair out. Let me know which you'd rather :D.
