The Mighty Sarlacc

“Be sure to get Luke Skywalker out of the pop-corn.”

After saying the above sentence to my son Isaac while going down the bread aisle of the grocery store, I wondered, in what parallel universe or in which of my many cat lives would I have predicted myself saying such a thing?  Yes, Luke had landed in the bag of popcorn, that is a 1.5 inch plastic toy version of Luke.  After telling Chris about the incident, he wondered if Luke was being “slowly digested over a thousand years” within the belly of the bag.  Unless popcorn happens to have powers like unto the mighty sarlacc, and it didn’t the last time I checked,  he would be just fine, of course after a thorough salt licking.

I’ve found that talking to children brings out all kinds of things one would never imagine saying or even think they would need to say in a million life times.  Such sentences ranging in topics from proper disposal of nasal expulsions to explaining how a beta fish can die from eating dried olives and honey nut Cheerios.  Children are the ultimate creators of unexpected conversation topics and if one is ever in need of something new to think about, just get a child to talk to you about their dreams or their versions on how gravity works.

Too funny. You don't know how it makes my day that you share the randomness that springs from of your kids. Love it.

And for some reason I've been having a 'Return of the Jedi' reference week. Fun, but now I'm wondering if I should be worried...

So true. I'm constantly surprised--and sometimes embarrassed--by the things that pop out of my mouth, thanks to kiddos.

LOL! I totally agree!! I had a similar thought when I heard my lil one exclaim "Playdough" after seeing her poopy diaper. It made me cringe!!

One of our family's examples:

"Honey, have you seen the nunchucks?"

No kidding. Kids bring out things in us we never imagined possible!

I completely agree! Between my anatomically well-educated children and the funny little kids I teach, I enjoy some fairly fascinating conversations each week. I can't wait to see what Rex will conjure up; it seems like boys have a different language from girls and I'm really in for it.

So true! Who needs a college education when you have a 5 year old? I have had to learn so much just by finding out the answers to Tanners tough astronomical questions.

Hi! In repsonse to your question form my blog post, my husband enjoys the Twilight books so far. He just finished New Moon. He's really NOT liking Bella at this point. He doesn't get to read much other than computer books. But it was his idea to read them in the first place (before I did) because he wanted to know what women liked about them. Personally, I think that the plot is good, certainly good enough for both men and women to enjoy!
