Bugs

Itsy Bitsy Spider went up the water spout...

With the warm weather comes new life in the form of bugs. There is a great awareness of their presence expressed in squeals, ooos, and aahhs! Isaac finds them intriguing but will scream if one gets too close. Except when it's an ant. I think confronting ants is the first step to a wider world of wiggly worms and wet willies. Oh, wonderful. He now thinks it fun to squash them with his finger. Now that the lightening bugs are coming out one can only imagine his excitement. I remember when Reed was 2 or 3 and how he would bring me bugs he found. I didn't know it was a bug he was handing me until I felt the offering move in my hand. He once caught a live fly in a window sill and by the wing. An unsuspecting fly, oh my! Grandpa Williams was the lucky recipient of a live spider. A really gross bug I've only seen out here is called a house centipede. It looks like a long spider with tons of legs, and kind of hairy. Supposedly they help keep the spider population down, but what keeps the house centipede population down? Well, the underside of my shoe does what it can.
Reed and Douglas are out of school and I'm trying to keep them occupied as best I can. They just started swimming lessons again. I think they miss school and their friends there. Reed's bus driver was so sad to see him go that she cried.

We haven't been doing too much. Chris has been working part time. They let him work up to 30 hours, so the extra income is nice for those extra things one has to buy. For example, a new microwave. Reed tried to warm up his french fries while the baby sitter watched them and started a fire. Luckily the babysitter unplugged it before throwing water on it. The house reeked with smoke but luckily all that was lost was a microwave. Speaking of Reed, he is currently on a time out. I told him he can't come off until the timer goes off making a "beep-beep-beep" sound. So, he keeps making "beep-beep-beep" sounds and asking, "now can I come off my timeout?" Kids!!! If they weren't so cute when they slept, I don't know...The fact is, the are so cute so I guess I'll keep them, but as long as I have access to some chocolate and diet coke. Gardening is one of my therapies and I can do it while the boys run off some energy outside. Here's a picture of one of my "Tiffany" roses. By the way, don't go on the internet to learn more about this rose, or at least don't just type in Tiffany rose, as this also happens to be the name of a porn star. Luckily those thumb nail prints on Google are somewhat edited and unclear.

We hope to go camping this summer near Lake Michigan, maybe near a town called Ludington. We love swimming and playing in the water and what's also nice is it's only 2 1/2 hours away from here. We like swimming in the lake as you can see what's also swimming near you, unlike some of the beaches in So. California, na-na na-na na-na. Though, I wouldn't say no to a trip to a So. Cal. beach at this moment. We hope all of you are having a wonderful summer and are recovering from those glow-in-the-dark winter legs.

Love fireflies and maybe will have a post explaining what I used to do with them. Kind of gross!
You will love Ludington. Robb and I went there for our anniversary one year and stayed at a bed and breakfast there. It was so quaint and fun and had a really neat art gallery/house. The water and beach is beautiful there. Have fun!

Love fireflies too and miss them!! Your rose looks fantastic...can you come to Utah and help me landscape my yard?..he,he..we have zero landscaping and wish so badly I could have beautiful flower..and don't let Ally near a rose..she has this thing with roses and can't help but pick them. I've promised her she could plant some of her own roses somewhere..but for now, all we have is weeds and she certainly isn't tempted by them!
